Hola!
My name is Pía and I'm a Mexican CMD and apparel creator based in Nuremberg.
I enjoy working on experimental fashion processes, conceptual footwear design and innovative material explorations.

NBTN is my ongoing Master's thesis project. In it, I explore surface design for basketball jerseys through Interference Patterns (I.P). As a result of the analysis and use of I.P systems like moiré effects, kinegrams, and computer/coded patterns, I focus on color and material design for performance apparel.
XXIV winter olympics
In 2022 the world celebrates the XXIV edition of the Winter Olympics. As part of the creative team in charge of equipping team Germany and team UK, I was able to be part of the process of building our color and graphics stories for both nations. The collection includes a wide range of garments, from very technical outdoor jackets and pants, to delicate base layers and leisurewear.
The end result is our take on team D and Team UK, through the lens of the year of the water tiger.
PARIS BASKETBALL
In spite of being a young club (2018) Paris Basketball has managed to win their way into the French Pro League.
During our collaboration with the club in 2020, my job as lead color designer was to conceptualise and create a look and design for the club's on and off-court apparel.
west coast proxemics
Having lived in Finland for over two years, living within a society that highly differs from my own upbringing, I was interested in exploring the language that Mexican culture creates when residing in foreign territories, in both physical and conceptual spaces.
West Coast Proxemics is an imagined collection developed with two specific concepts in mind. The theoretical framework of the project was built around the theory of proxemics, which explores the cultural characteristics of physical distance between people. This informed the conceptual decisions as well as silhouette definition. On the aesthetic side, the cholo culture was thoroughly deconstructed and utilized as specific visual cues that were later translated into a variety of treatments, materials and graphics for the final pieces.
PAPEROLOGY
Paperology is my Undergraduate thesis collection created during my studies at Centro University in Mexico City. My main goal for this project was to find an innovative system to replace traditional construction elements in clothing like seams, pleats and darts with an array of abstract origami folds and structures that would replicate the original elements' actions on clothing when worn.
The garments would look flat when hung but would easily unfold and activate when worn.
knitwear work
This collection of knits was designed with the simple idea of creating playful optical illusions on the materials with a combination of yarn selection and structure development.
The concept behind it was: imagine what would an eccentric NBA player wear in a neon world.
All samples were developed on a Stoll hand-knitter (gauges 12 through 5) using an array of technical yarns.
children of our town
Children of our town was born in an effort to share a modern vision of Mexican art, talent, culture and spirit. More than a contemporary brand, its driven and inspired by architecture, tradition, people, experiences and artists, and how they all coexist. During my time at the brand I performed as Chief Designer, taking care of each season's research, conceptualizing, design, prototyping and production.
The brand is inspired by different colonias (neighborhoods) in Mexico City, from which textures, people, architecture and stories are reinterpreted as design elements for each garment. As of today, COOT has launched seven collections, and showcased during several Fashion Week runways in Mexico City.
miura fold
During the summer of 2017, Aalto University partnered with the VF Corporation to work on this workshop. The brief asked us to work on a material or technique asset that could be potentially be applied in a future footwear or apparel development.
For my project I revisited my BA thesis research around abstract origami structures and reframed it for a research around foldable hiking shoes. The idea was to create a slipper for the resting times of hikers that could be folded and compacted into a very small and lightweight piece. This technique will be later on be transferred into different pieces like rucksacks, backpacks and others. In this particular case I did a heavy research around the "miura fold".
This project is still in development so here you will see only a preview and an overview of the research process.
